Los t\u00e9rminos con significados parecidos o relacionados activan las mismas \u00e1reas cerebrales. Seg\u00fan un estudio basado en im\u00e1genes de la actividad cerebral mientras se escuchan historias, esta colecci\u00f3n de mapas de conceptos es similar entre distintas personas. La investigaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n contradice la idea generalizada de que el lenguaje solo es cosa del lado izquierdo del\u00a0cerebro.<\/p>\n<p>El lenguaje es una de las funciones m\u00e1s elevadas del cerebro humano. Del procesamiento de sus distintos componentes (fonemas, morfemas, sintaxis o significados) se encarga la corteza cerebral, la estructura cerebral m\u00e1s compleja y reciente desde el punto de vista evolutivo. Un subconjunto de \u00e1reas cerebrales del c\u00f3rtex, denominado sistema sem\u00e1ntico, est\u00e1 especializado en el significado de lo que se oye, lee o piensa.<\/p>\n<p>Ahora, un grupo de cient\u00edficos de EE UU han mapeado el sistema sem\u00e1ntico del cerebro. Descubrieron que el procesamiento del significado de las palabras activa patrones cerebrales muy complejos en el que intervienen decenas de \u00e1reas neuronales.
