Este proceso, descrito por primera vez hace 50 a\u00f1os por Joseph Altman, est\u00e1 limitado a unas zonas concretas del cerebro. Se sabe que una deficitaria formaci\u00f3n de nuevas neuronas est\u00e1 relacionada con <strong>enfermedades psiqui\u00e1tricas y neurodegenerativas<\/strong>, tales como el alzh\u00e9imer, la depresi\u00f3n o el estr\u00e9s.
