En este nivel de estudio, como es preceptivo en el proceso de elaboraci\u00f3n de los f\u00e1rmacos para consumo humano, el producto se ha administrado a un peque\u00f1o grupo de pacientes, 46 en concreto. El objetivo era demostrar que el medicamento es seguro y puede administrarse a m\u00e1s afectados sin temor a que cause graves efectos secundarios.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iguala3.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Hungtinton.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-941 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/iguala3.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Hungtinton-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"317\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iguala3.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Hungtinton-300x179.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iguala3.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Hungtinton.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 317px) 100vw, 317px\" \/><\/a>Los cient\u00edficos del UCL aseguran que se trata del mayor hallazgo contra el mal de Huntington dise\u00f1ado hasta ahora, aunque puntualizan que no se trata de un f\u00e1rmaco que conduzca a la curaci\u00f3n de la enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p>El nuevo\u00a0medicamento, denominado<strong>\u00a0Ionis-Httrx<\/strong>, ha logrado, en la fase de ensayo\u00a0cl\u00ednico,\u00a0una\u00a0<strong>reducci\u00f3n de la mutaci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna<\/strong>\u00a0que altera el sistema nervioso central hasta causar el Huntington. La sustancia farmacol\u00f3gica, han asegurado los cient\u00edficos, es bien tolerada por los pacientes.<\/p>\n<p>El futuro\u00a0f\u00e1rmaco se inyect\u00f3 en el l\u00edquido cefalorraqu\u00eddeo de 46 pacientes que de forma voluntaria accedieron a ello, en los que consigui\u00f3 reducir los niveles de las prote\u00ednas t\u00f3xicas implicadas en la aludida mutaci\u00f3n, que afecta progresivamente a amplias zonas del cerebro. La enfermedad suele mostrar una progresi\u00f3n muy lenta, desarroll\u00e1ndose en un periodo de unos 15 o 20 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>El signo externo m\u00e1s caracter\u00edstico del mal de Huntington, antes conocido como\u00a0<strong>Corea de Huntington<\/strong>, es la alteraci\u00f3n del movimiento a que conduce, unos gestos exagerados de las extremidades, y la aparici\u00f3n de muecas gestuales inesperadas o repentinas. Los trastornos ps\u00edquicos graves suelen ser previos a las manifestaciones musculares. Datos epidemiol\u00f3gicos indican que en Europa sufren esta enfermedad unas 45.000 personas, unas 4.000 en Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abPor primera vez, tenemos la esperanza de estar ante una futura\u00a0terapia que puede ralentizar o prevenir la enfermedad de Huntington\u00bb, ha indicado\u00a0<strong>Sarah Tabrizi<\/strong>, investigadora y directora del centro de la enfermedad de Huntington en el UCL. Los investigadores insisten en que no se trata de \u00abuna cura\u00bb, ya que, advierten, ser\u00e1n precisos m\u00e1s datos que confirmen a largo plazo que bajar los niveles de las prote\u00ednas
